Is “amazon suspicious order call scam” a scam?
Yes — this is a known, dangerous scam.
Caller claims to be Amazon fraud department about a $1,200+ unauthorized purchase. They transfer you to a fake "bank fraud team" who asks you to install remote software to "protect" your account.
How to tell
- ⚠ Amazon never calls you unsolicited about suspicious orders
- ⚠ You are transferred to a 'bank representative' you did not call yourself
- ⚠ You are asked to install remote-access software (AnyDesk, Quick Support)
- ⚠ You are told to buy gift cards or move money to a 'safe account'
What to do right now
- 1 Hang up and call Amazon directly at 1-888-280-4331 to verify any claim
- 2 Never install software at a caller's request
- 3 Never move money to a 'safe account' — legitimate banks do not ask for this
- 4 If you installed any 'support' or 'server' or 'refund app' or remote-access app at the scammer's request (AnyDesk, TeamViewer, Quick Support, etc.), run free SeraphSecure (https://www.seraphsecure.com) to detect and remove it.
- 5 Report to the FTC at https://reportfraud.ftc.gov and the FBI's IC3 at https://www.ic3.gov.
