A fake DoorDash or Uber Eats support message steals your login or redirects your earnings

Scammers impersonate DoorDash or Uber Eats support via SMS or in-app message, claiming a payment problem, order issue, or account alert. They request a one-time code or login credentials, then hijack accounts to redirect earnings or drain stored payment details.

Also known as: DoorDash scam Australia, Uber Eats support impersonation, food delivery driver phishing, gig worker account takeover

What to do right now

  1. 1 Never share your one-time verification code or login password — legitimate platform support will never ask for it
  2. 2 Contact DoorDash or Uber Eats only through the official help section inside the app, not by responding to unsolicited messages
  3. 3 If your delivery account has been compromised, change your password immediately and contact the platform's official support
  4. 4 Check your payment settings and saved bank account details for any unauthorised changes
  5. 5 Report to Scamwatch at https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/report-a-scam or ReportCyber at https://www.cyber.gov.au/report.

Red flags

  • ⚠ You receive an unexpected text or message claiming to be DoorDash or Uber Eats support about a refund, order, cancellation, or payment problem
  • ⚠ The message asks for a one-time verification code — real support teams never ask for this
  • ⚠ You are told your account will be suspended unless you confirm your login details immediately
  • ⚠ The contact arrives via SMS, WhatsApp, or a personal phone call rather than through the official app
  • ⚠ As a delivery worker, your earnings or payment settings have been changed without your action
